New Equipment for Events and Community Talks

We reported in the last newsletter that we had purchased various items of equipment and awaited delivery of a gazebo.

Well it arrived in time for September’s Regatta. The heavy weights were much needed as the wind steadily increased during the day. The disappointing weather didn't detract from the great number of interested visitors to our stall, many of whom made donations and purchased memorabilia.

We were also graced with a visit from one of the Chelsea Pensioners who had come on board at Hampton Court. He had made the trip to Leigh to thank us and join our membership.

We had also participated at the inaugural Heritage event  in August which attracted a large number of visitors. This event saw the unveiling of one of our two pop-up banners.

Special thanks are due to Julie Curtis who gave up her time to provide the artwork for the gazebo and the banners and to Stuart Emery for the use of an historic photograph which provides the gazebo’s eye catching back cloth and forms part of the banner’s design.
More recently we have purchased a  table hugging cloth which was used for the first time at a talk to the Southend 41 Club.

Visitors at events certainly know who we are now.

Thank you to the Essex Community Foundation for the grant money that covered the cost of all of our recently acquired equipment.
