Community Events and Festivals

Many good photographs were taken  at the barge match including this one by a Southend Echo photographer and published in the
Monday edition following the race. Perhaps the photographer thought Endeavour was a  barge!

Once again Endeavour sailed among the splendid Thames Sailing Barges competing this year in the 53rd Southend Barge Match. Paul and Chris Bailey were joined on board by Michael Howard, Peter Monk and Richard Baxter.

Michael Dolby helps a visitor at the Regatta -  or is he asking her for a dance?

We have participated in two events over the last few months; the 3rd Leigh Maritime Festival and the 3rd Leigh Regatta organised by the Leigh-on-Sea Lions Club. Thanks to everyone who helped at these events where new members were recruited and hundreds of pounds was raised by way of sales and donations.

Since the last newsletter Peter has given talks to the Ladies Fellowship Hadleigh Temple, the Leigh Townswomen's Guild, the Thames Estuary U3A and the Stock Harvard Ladies Probus. Peter also visited the 4th/6th Leigh-on-Sea Sea Scouts Group in The Cabin, Barnard Road, and talked to their cubs about Endeavour's history. This followed on from their trip on Endeavour a few weeks before. The cubs showed their appreciation in their normal vocal way and followed up with a thank you note which is copied here:
